Book: How to Win Friends & Influence People, by Dale Carnegie

Review written by: BrehtJB

Often I have heard people remark that they do not care to 'win friends', when I casually refer to this wonderful work by Dale Carnegie. It is clear that they neither have looked past the title nor understand the importance of human relations in day-to-day life. Written in 1936, 'How to Win Friends & Influence People' was an overnight sensation. More importantly, however, it is still as relevant today as it was in the early part of the last century.

The Satanist, with passion for success, understands the importance of dealing with others in an appropriate manner. Whilst naturally we tend to learn from experience, this book presents a series of tried and proven techniques all aimed at tangible outcomes. Validating this information are historical examples of famous and successful individuals who understood and successfully applied the principles noted by Carnegie.

Carnegie's work is broken into four parts:
1. Fundamental Techniques In Handling People,
2. Six Ways To Make People Like You,
3. How To Win People To Your Way Of Thinking, and
4. Be A Leader: How To Change People Without Giving Offense Or Arousing Resentment.

These four categories are very adequately explored with specific principles that can be immediately applied by the reader even before reaching the end of the book. Carnegie approaches his subject matter in a pragmatic manner. The reader is not bogged down with theory, but immediately empowered with practical knowledge.

Individuals with an interest in the use of Lesser Magic will certainly gain new techniques to add to their arsenal with Carnegie's book. In my opinion, it is essential reading for anyone with a desire for success.

I will now leave you with a quote from Carnegie, which applies to much in life, and in what we read:

"Only knowledge that is used sticks in your mind."
